Brock CoupeThe new Shelby Daytona Coupe is everything its predecessor was, and then some. It is factory built, precision-crafted down to the finest details, and built with modern technology which allows a smoother, safer ride, and even better performance than the original.

CHASSIS and SUSPENSION:
The chassis is constructed with a round tube space frame design that combines a
60's period look with modern packaging and engineering requirements. The
chassis and suspension layout was originally done by Jim Price himself, and
then later optimized by the late Bob Negsted and Dan Bamford (of Roush
engineering) with the finite element analysis done byWes Shultz of ACT. The
torsional stiffness of the chassis alone is in order of 6,000 lbs per degree! The
fully independent suspension was based on the original 60’s work of Bob and
Klaus Arning and combines a unique and impressive unequal A-arm design
front and rear.

Coupe Chassis

DRIVETRAIN:
The Coupe is designed to take a Ford 351Windsor engine that can be stroked
to 427 cu in. The chassis was engineered for a six speed Tremec T56
transmission. The Coupe is fitted with a 3.46:1 BTR Hydratrack differential,
arguably the most modern slip-controlled differential available for road cars
today. Roush Technologies developed the Roush 402 RC engine for the Beta
and Gamma prototypes (Alpha prototype competed in the 2000 One Lap of
America with an Olthoff-developed engine). The RC boasts 501 bhp at 5,900
rpm and 580 ft/lbs of torque at 4,900 rpm, giving the prototype amazing
performance figures: 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, the standing quarter mile in 11.5
sec and a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

BODY/INTERIOR:
With shape and form styled by Peter Brock, the composite body is completely
new, with advanced aerodynamics. The front windscreen is a heated and tinted
shatterproof unit, and the manually operated wind-up side windows are of
toughened glass. The luxurious two-seater leather-trimmed interior is air
conditioned, with three-point retractable seat belts as standard equipment.
Modern StewartWarner instruments include a 160 mph speedometer, 8,000
rpm tach, water and oil temperature gauges, an oil pressure gauge, ammeter and
fuel gauge. Everything inside the car is ergonomically laid out. The cockpit,
which offers 35.75" headroom and 4" seat travel, features a full custom-made air
conditioner with heating and cooling as well as multi-speed fans and directional
control. The dash has a lockable glovebox and space for a radio. A remote
immobilizer and remote keyless locks and door opening are standard. A roll bar,
a black padded roof liner, and a 14"Moto Lita steering wheel complete the allblack
interior.

Coupe Interior

SHOCKS AND SPRINGS:
CoupeBilstein and H&R collaborated with Bob and Dennis Olthoff to create a purposebuilt
set of coil-over shocks, front and rear.

STEERING:
The power-assisted rack and pinion steering has 2.5 turns lock to lock, giving
the Coupe a turning circle of 42 ft.

BRAKES:
Vacuum-boosted system, Australian PBR
calipers with 12.8" x 1.25" vented
rotors in front, 12" x 1" in rear. The swept area is 428 sq in, or 310 sq inches
per ton.

Coupe Brakes

WHEELS:
Cast alloy 18" x 8" wheels in front, 18" x 10" at the rear. The wheels are styled
similar to the traditional FIA wheel. The wheels come supplied with a set of 18”
tires.

GENERAL:
The radiator has an aluminum core with built-in water to oil cooler. The
exhaust system has the original looking side pipes but then goes back through a
rear-mounted muffler. Full "race" side mufflers will be available as options. The
stainless steel fuel tank is mounted over the rear axle and holds 21 gallons.
There are stowage lockers under the rear deck and in the rear wheel wells.
